Do I need to be fit, strong or flexible to start pole dancing?
Not at all! No previous dance or fitness background is necessary to start our beginner courses. In fact, pole dancing is perfect to take up if you want to work on your fitness, strength and flexibility goals. Do your poles spin? Absolutely! All our level classes are on a spinning pole. In our Advanced pole course and Advanced Exotic course, we may occasionally put the pole on static to teach dynamic moves. How tall are your poles? All our poles are brass (38 mm) and a beautiful 3.5 metres tall. Do you have air-con? Yes, our studio is fully air-conditioned! What should I wear? If you are starting a beginner course we recommend wearing shorts and a singlet, shirt or crop top. What should I bring? Please bring a water bottle, sweat-towel (optional) and handgrip if desired. Handgrip can be purchased at reception. What is the age limit for your classes? Our classes are 18 years and older with no age limit. It's never too late to start your pole journey! Are your classes female only? No, we accept everybody at The Emerald Pole Boutique! I'm enrolled in a course but can't make a class, what can I do? If you miss a class you are welcome to do a free "make-up class". Please refer to our studio's policies for more information. My hands/body is slippery when gripping the pole, what can I do? Most beginners and even the advanced students suffer from sweaty hands at some point. Fortunately, there are grip-aid products that can help. We stock the most popular grip-aids at reception. Do I have to wear heels? Heels are optional in every course except Advanced Exotic. My partner/family member or friend is thinking of signing up and would like to see what classes are like. That's awesome! We are continuously running $15 beginner trial classes throughout the term. Head to our Beginners Trial Classes section for more information. We also encourage family/friends to attend our student showcase week! At the end of term (every 8 weeks), students have the option to invite others to come and watch their class. Showcase week is a great way for students to show off their hard work and take plenty of pictures and videos! |
