Do I need to be fit, strong or flexible to start pole dancing?
Not at all! No previous dance or fitness background is necessary to start our beginner courses. In fact, pole dancing is perfect to take up if you want to work on your fitness, strength and flexibility goals. Please see our Beginners section for more information. Is there a way to find out if pole dancing is right for me before committing to a full course? Yes! We offer $15 Beginner Trial Classes. In this fun 1 hour class we cover all the basics, no previous experience required. Trial classes only run before the new term is about to start, please click here for more information. I have have previous pole dancing experience, how do I know what level I would be in? We offer $20 level assessments. Level assessments run for half an hour and can be booked here. Alternatively, you can message us on social media/email and we can try to determine the most suitable level for you. Do your poles spin? Yes! All our level classes are on a spinning pole. In our Elite and Exotic courses, we may occasionally put the pole on static to teach dynamic moves. How tall are your poles? All our poles are brass (38 mm) and 3.5 metres tall. Do you have air-con? Yes, our studio is fully air-conditioned! What should I wear/bring? If you are starting a beginner course we recommend wearing shorts. The shorter the shorts the easier it is to grip the pole. Please bring a water bottle and sweat-towel (optional). Beginner classes are done barefoot. What is the age limit for your classes? Our classes are 18 years and older with no age limit. It's never too late to start your pole journey! Are your classes female only? No, we accept everybody at The Emerald Pole Boutique! I'm enrolled in a course but can't make a class, what can I do? If you miss a class you are welcome to do a free "make-up class". Please refer to our studio's policies for more information. My hands/body is slippery when gripping the pole, what can I do? Most beginners and even the advanced students suffer from sweaty hands at some point. Fortunately, there are grip-aid products that can help. We stock the most popular grip-aids at reception. Do I have to wear heels? Heels are optional in every course. However, in exotic and some specialty courses, heels are encouraged as they protect your feet and allow you to do certain moves. If not wearing heels for these courses, we recommend wearing socks. I don't have a pole at home. How can I practice the moves taught in class? We offer $15 Practice Time at the studio! Practice time is an open 1 hour session with no instructor where you can use the studio to practice anything you like! Click here for more information. My partner, family member or friend is thinking of signing up and would like to see what classes are like. That's awesome! We are continuously running $15 beginner trial classes throughout the term. Head to our Beginners Trial Classes section for more information. We also encourage family/friends to attend our student showcase week! At the end of term (every 8 weeks), students have the option to invite others to come and watch their class. Showcase week is a great way for students to show off their hard work and take plenty of pictures and videos! |
